Reading passage

The ability to deliver effective presentations is crucial for career advancement. Whether pitching to clients, presenting to executives, or training colleagues, your presentation skills directly impact how others perceive your competence and ideas.

Start with a clear structure: tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you told them. This repetition helps audiences follow your logic and remember key points. Begin with a compelling hook - a question, statistic, or story that captures attention.

Visual aids should support, not replace, your message. Avoid text-heavy slides. Use high-quality images, simple charts, and minimal bullet points. The 10-20-30 rule suggests no more than 10 slides, lasting no longer than 20 minutes, using font sizes of at least 30 points.

Practice is non-negotiable. Rehearse your presentation multiple times, ideally in front of colleagues who can provide feedback. Pay attention to your pace, tone, and body language. Record yourself to identify verbal tics or nervous habits.

Engage with your audience throughout. Make eye contact, ask questions, and read the room. If people look confused, pause and clarify. If energy is low, shift your delivery or introduce an interactive element. The best presentations feel like conversations, not lectures.
